Humble, dAmnAddict

Fri Nov 27, 2009, 2:31 PM
I take a peek at the artworks and writings featured here as often as I can, really. I haven't much been able to participate lately. But I look around. Every time I do, I'm astonished at the quality of the works I see in all sorts of disciplines. I'm quite humbled to have been awarded a crazily-undeserved 5th Daily Deviation (in light of what's featured each day. that includes the daily lit deviations. glad to see strong commitment.) for taste faintly. (Not mentioning the number to toot my own horn, scout's honor.)

I missed Thanksgiving. Whelp. Let me give thanks now.

Edit: The miserable state is unrelated to the humbled-ness. And thanks to `Iscariot-Priest and ^SparrowSong in particular for the suggestion and feature, respectively.</facepalm>

Summer Haikuthon 2009

Wed Jul 1, 2009, 9:40 PM
Summer haikuthon 2009 is on :D

Hopefully I'll keep up with the rest of the pack. I like almost everything I've read so far, and so rounded them up in this gallery. Enjoy and enjoin!

:iconiscariot-priest: is the prime mover behind this summer's haikuthon. May his six word stories continue to be blessed.

Edit: Please note me or comment if you decide to participate or if I have somehow overlooked your deviation. I am happy to add to the Summer 2009 haikuthon collection.

No Kidding?

I received a DD today for shimabara spring - woah! Due thanks to Dick at :iconsolarts:, who gave a wonderful critique of this piece in its early stages. Thanks also to William :iconfllnthblnk: for the feature.

I am however still disappointed about the lit tile display. point b)! Maybe it should show the category drilldown under the title? E.G.:

| | Title
| | Category>
| | SubCategory>
| | SubCategory>
| | lorem ipsum
| | dolor unum...

I dunno. It's a tough nut to crack.

Anyhow thanks again to everyone for the feature, views, :+fav:s and comments.

Change the Lit Display!

Sat May 9, 2009, 11:00 PM
Dear dA,

The current lit display is undesirable because:

b) it fucks up line breaks in poems.

While I don't recommend going back to the old tile format, with screen sizes widening I would like to see flexible lit display icons of up to 550px, which will generally cover point b), above.

This does NOT give literature an unfair advantage: it gives lit (particularly poems) a proper thumbnail representation which retains the original intent and spirit of the piece. I'd rather the scroll field be 550px x 100 px -- then scrolling makes sense. As it is now it just sucks, and (arguably) takes page views away from authors. point b)!

well, I'm going to try writing a few haiku this month -- 31, as a matter of fact...one added each day to the initial deviation (if it keeps showing up in your in-box, this is why).

:iconlaurence55: and :iconsolarts: passed the idea on to me, which was (I believe, anyhow) initially propagated by :iconiscariot-priest:. For a full list of participants, visit his page. And join in, if you'd like ;)
